A font created for a Beer Brand Celebrating The Extraordinary Contrasts of The Swedish Sunlight.
Background
When studying the course “Building Brands With Type” at the School of Visual Arts in NYC we were taught how to design and draw our own fonts in the program Glyphs. During the course I developed the font norr for a fictional beer brewery called, norr brewery.
Case
I wanted to develop a modern and versatile font for a small Swedish brewery located in northen Sweden. I wanted the font to celebrate the extraordinary contrasts of the Swedish sunlight and I therefore wanted to make a font with high contrast and to use both hard and soft shapes.
Solution
Font norr is created for the Beer Brand “norr brewery” celebrating the extraordinary contrasts of the Swedish sunlight and the Swedish northern flavours.
Font norr is created with inspiration from the remarkable contrasts within the rise and fall of the Swedish sun. From the strict cold darkness of polarnatt to the warmer and friendlier light of midsommarnatt”.
Norr is a display typeface with a high stroke contrast.. A variable font from regular to bold. It is a san serif font with both strict sharp angles and friendly rounded shapes.
